ABOUT

Thessa Prins

My maritime carreer started in 1994 as a Maritime Officer. Over the years, I sailed on various types of vessels; Semi-submersible ships, Crude oil tankers, Product carriers, General Cargo vessels and Roro-vessels.

Ultimately obtaining both Master Mariner (STCW II/2) and Second Engineer (STCW III/2) Certificates of Competency.

After several years I transitioned ashore to expand my perspective on the industry. I first worked as a Port State Control (PSC) Officer, ensuring vessels compliance with international safety, environmental, and operational standards.

I then took on the role of Marine Surveyor with Lloyd’s Register, where I conducted a wide range of inspections, audits, and Statutory surveys.

Since 2019, I have been working as an independent Marine Consultant, providing expert support to clients worldwide.

 My core services include:

  • Flag State Inspections
Conducting inspections on behalf of flag administrations to ensure vessels meet international and national regulatory standards.

  • Audits
Performing internal and external audits (ISM, ISPS, MLC) to assess compliance and improve safety management systems.

  • Pre-Port State Control (PSC) Inspections
Identifying potential deficiencies before official inspections, helping vessels avoid detentions and delays.

  • Pre-RightShip Inspections
Preparing vessels for RightShip vetting to improve ratings and facilitate smoother chartering processes.

  • Accident & Incident Investigations
Thorough, unbiased investigations into maritime incidents and accidents, with root cause analysis and preventive action advice.

  • Superintendent Services
Independent technical support and representation during dry-dockings, repairs, inspections, and daily operational matters.

  • Damage Reports
Objective and detailed assessment of structural, mechanical, or cargo-related damage, including repair recommendations.

My goal is to deliver reliable, experience-driven support that helps clients navigate the operational, technical, and compliance challenges of today’s maritime industry, anywhere in the world.
